Circa 1944-83, this one-of-a-kind, fast-moving, high-impact saga with action and drama on every page, delivers a host of unpredictable twists and turns that takes the reader on a poignant journey from the mean streets of Baltimore to the killing fields of two American wars.  Join Corporal Paul Pinski of the 101st Airborne Division on the Normandy Beachhead when he saves four of his airborne brethren by pouncing on a German hand grenade. Twenty years later, Paul's son, a Dexter-type anti-hero born in Maryland at the exact moment of his father's death, barely survives a combat tour of duty in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam to return home and begin his drive to success on a road paved with the bodies of his rivals.

As one reader has described In Sheep's Clothing:

"A great crime story that touches on history and defects in human character with a climactic ending that leaves the reader reeling and begging for a sequel."

This book is an excellent read, flows easily, and one can't wait to the next page. I grew up in the area, and am familiar with many of the locations written about. I am also the Captain of the fire station in the story, B.C.F.D. Engine 41, so the story had some close to home moments for me. I couldn't put it down.

I have never read a mystery that has kept me as involved in the story and characters as did In Sheep’s Clothing. The closest thing I can compare it to is Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett, which is overshadowed by Mr. Ciesielski’s first work. Great job sir!

Review from Fran Lewis-Independent New York Book Reviewer:

Alfred Hitchcock and James Patterson have never created an ending so diabolical as author and master of the twists, turns and unexpected: Edward P. Ciesielski, Jr.

Review From: D. A. Phillips-Co-Editor Prince George's Suite Magazine

5.0 out of 5 Stars.  It was the first of books, it was the best of books.

The first novel by author Edward P. Ciesielski, Jr. comes out of the gate gripping you by the throat. His descriptions of events in real cities during actual periods in this country's history make this book a fascinating read for those familiar with the Maryland and the Eastern seaboard. Mr. Ciesielski's careers as a military man; as one of 'Prince George's County's Finest' Police Department and through them as a special agent protecting Alabama Governor George C. Wallace bring a realism and historic flavor that I really enjoyed.
I grew up in the Washington Metropolitan area and many of the events brought back so many memories for me.
Even if you are not from this part of the country, the story in itself is riveting. A hero and villain both? Really? How do you root for him and object to his actions at the same time? I do have to caution those who have not read the book yet, you will lose time. Once you become part of this reality, your world disappears. Do not cook, have children who are awake or pets that need to be walked. For those who have read this book, we all have the same question...when is the sequel coming out?

John Ratti-Waldorf, MD

Best mystery I've ever read!

Hard to believe In Sheep's Clothing is this author's first book. It hooked me from the beginning to the point I'd go to work an hour early to read and couldn't wait until lunch to get back to it. Exciting page turner best describes this fantastic drama based in Maryland. Sure hopes there's a sequel.

Cary Clark-Baltimore Greektown Resident

I believe Mr. Ciesielski has a hit on his hands with In Sheep's Clothing. Story reminds me of a Tom Clancy work. More excitement than a body can stand.

Paula Jensen-Bowie, MD Resident

"Kudos to the author! In sheep's Clothing grabs the reader and holds tight as you read the first few paragraphs ... from then on ... hold onto your hat. You are in for the experience of your reading life. Living in the Bowie area, I found the references intriguing. Many of the 'cases' cited were familiar as my husband, Tom, is a retired county office. As I expected, this book left me wanting more ... Can't wait for the next one ... "

Allen Simmons-Retired Muskogee, OK Police Officer

A retired Prince George's County Maryland Police Officer, Edward Ciesielski, has written a book ... IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING .... this is a must read.

Dan Howard-Baltimore City Physician

Ed, you were right, I really enjoyed "In Sheep's Clothing", although I'm still wincing a bit. When does your next book come out?

Sherry White-Talbert  Prince George's County Resident

As an avid reader, I consider myself an expert on judging murder and mystery novels. With that, I consider In Sheep's Clothing the best I've ever read, bar none. In addition to the totally captivating storyline and original writing style, the well developed characters come alive and the reader becomes emotionally attached to them, including "evil Alec". I say with confidence what a great movie this will be as I'm sure it will become one. Hurry with the sequel!

Ernest Williams-Prince George's County Resident

Riveting at every turn with new developments and captivating twists keeps the reader completely engrossed from beginning to end. This action-packed thriller with drama on every page is a must read for those who enjoy a unique murder mystery with extreme flair.

Gene Seabolt-Retired Firefighter Washington, DC

When I was in MD last month, Christine provided me a copy of your literary grand slam. I just finished it last evening and found it very enjoyable and extremely well done.  At first, I thought it was an autobiography, possibly a tacit confession, until Alec murdered his pathway into politics.  Somehow, I expected the story to maneuver from cop, to realtor, to author, but you twisted it cleverly into an ending, leaving the reader drooling for the sequence.  You have developed an enviable talent that, I'm certain, will garner you a faithful following.

Sombra Blanca-Prince George’s County Police Officer

Read your book man….a great read, interesting especially because I know many of the cases and places you talk about….Good Job!

Rawley Byrd-Retired Washington, DC Police Sergeant

In Sheep's Clothing was an excellent read that I could not put down. I read it in one day and was looking for more. It is nice to read avout a thriller from someone that has been there and done that for real. The reality of events from a former police officer is a wonderful change of pace from other authors. I canno...t wait for your follow-up book. This was a definite home run on the first pitch.

Danny Olds-Retired Prince George's County Police Sergeant

Ed. I couldn't wait for Foriida so I read your book. Good job. I believe it would make one hell of a movie. But got to say I was wondering why Alec didn't take care of Russell early on. And when he did I thought to myself "is this over?" But got to say you put it together right. Good job. Hope it is doing well for you. My wife is going to read it now. Dan

Congrats on your winner book and look forward to the sequel

Very much enjoyed this book and it was definitely a page turner. The author's knowledge of the Baltimore/Washington, D.C area added to the suspense throughout the book and any reader with a law enforcement background in this region will relate to many parts of the book. Enjoyed it greatly and waiting for the sequel.

In Sheep's Clothing has kept my attention from the first paragraph to the last page. Ed is a brilliant author that knows how to capture my imagination with excellent visual descriptions. The entire book played out like a movie in my mind. It's an extremely talented author that can accomplish that... the last book that comes to mind with such vivid visuals is "Cold Mountain". In Sheep's Clothing will also make a great movie. Some of the scenes in the story are indelible in my mind; I can't wait for the sequel.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new favorite!, December 15, 2011

This book truly is a page turner. I work as the Executive Director of the Greektown Community Development Corporation, and I live/work in the middle of where the majority of this story takes place. The author does a great job vividly and accurately incorporating nostalgic elements of Greektown and Highlandtown. Mixed with a realistic portrayal of the types of characters during that time period, the intense plot kept me eagerly reading throughout the novel. Not only did I enjoy the story and characters, I learned and gained a better perspective of what it was like to live in my hometown fifty years ago. From the fire fighting scenes to the bank robbery, I was hooked the whole way through. I highly recommend 'In Sheeps Clothing' and will recommend this to the rest of my friends in Highlandtown and Greektown so that they may enjoy it as much as I did. I think this could be pitched as a pretty cool film, perhaps Barry Levinson or John Waters would be interested...

I was very pleasantly supprised when I read Ed Ciesielski's book "In Sheep's Clothing." I was aware that Ed had been working on a book for some time and while I looked forward to reading it, I had no idea that the book would be so outstanding. From the first page I was hooked and could hardly put the book down. When the story line worked its way to Prince George's County Maryland and our police department I was taken back to so many good times and gut wrenching incidents that shaped,to some degree, my aduld life and those of my associates! Grand job Ed, thank you for an outstanding effort! I very much look forward to your next book.

I enjoyed reading Ed's colorful descriptions of local people and places, I could actually see the places in my mind, and remember or guess at their real identity. This book will appeal to readers any where that enjoy intrigue and mystery. The characters are fully developed and colorful, they draw you in so you do not want the book to end. I hope there is going to be a follow up. Well written, enjoyable, and interesting!

Ed, I have never been much of a book reader. Since I would lose interest, I cannot say that about your book. In Sheep's Clothing is my favorite book. I found it hard to put down. I sure loved the story and the local landmarks is an added bonus. I moved to Laurel Maryland in Prince George's County as a young kid and remember when Governor Wallace was shot at the shopping center. I worked in and around that shopping center in the early eighties. I agree with all the positive reviews here and cannot think of one thing I would change with this story. You covered a bunch of ground and time yet told such a great story I feel like I knew the characters. You are an accomplished author up there with the best of them. I have and will continue to recommend your book to all. I can hardly wait for the sequel.

"In Sheep's Clothing," inspired by real life encounters, is a chilling look into the life & mind of Alec, a young man who knows what he wants & uses any means to get it. The story follows Alec along his path to success, detailing his experiences with the fortunate & sometimes unfortunate people he encounters.
The compelling, emotional & grisly scenes make this book hard to put down. An example would be the bank robbery scene, it pulled me in and made my heart race! I also love the way the characters are woven throughout the story, resurfacing in unexpected ways. A thrilling page turner. Not only am I looking forward to the sequel, but more novels from Edward Ciesielski.

Here's to Ed Ciesielski for his first book being a hit. In Sheep's Clothing tells an excellent story of life in Maryland from WW2 until the early 90's. Ed describes life and death in real terms and hit politics in Maryland right on the head. I found it entertaining reading and particularly like the segment on Prince George's County. This is more than just a murder mystery its a lot of history and fiction based on the way it was back in the day. Go get "em" ED.

A compelling book about a dedicated military service man, killed in Normandy during World War II, and the less than upstanding life of his son Alec, born on the very day of his father's death. Following the drama filled life of Alec, his mother Lucy, stepfather Luke, half brother Victor and half sister Terri, you'll be touched by the warmth of some characters in this book, and totally aghast at the murderous path that takes Alec to the Maryland Governor's Mansion. This book will keep you hooked from the first page through the last. Intelligently written. I couldn't put it down. It's a must read, and I can't wait for the sequel.

The author utilizes his real life experience to guide you through a series of events triggered by World War II's D-Day invasion into the post war streets of Baltimore and the chain of circumstances the tear apart a family. Based on real police work the novel is realistic and uses deception and brute force to keep the reader clued to the pages right to the strange ending.

Mystery readers will love this one! And Washington/Baltimore area citizens past and present as well and Crime Novel readers will revel in the frankness of the author's portrayal of the chapters. Well worth reading!
